ZodiAq: Flagella-Inspired Soft Underwater Drone

ZodiAq is a multi-flagellum soft underwater drone inspired by bacterial propulsion, developed for safe, compliant marine exploration. The mechatronic design, modeling, and experimental validation of the drone are described in “ZodiAq: An Isotropic Flagella-Inspired Soft Underwater Drone for Safe Marine Exploration” (Soft Robotics, 2025).

The work was featured as the cover art of the Soft Robotics journal (August 2024 issue) and highlighted in New Scientist for its innovative, isotropic flagellate design.
